I AM MOVING

Lkham Gallery proudly presents I Am Moving, a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Otgontugs Dondovdorj, opening as the gallery’s first exhibition of 2026.
Shaped by reflections on movement, transition, and lived experience, Otgontugs draws inspiration from the traditional Mongolian game uichuur—a culturally revered and symbolically layered board game. Engaging with this theme for over a decade, the artist approaches migration not simply as physical relocation, but as a continuous journey unfolding across time, memory, and emotion.
By weaving traditional structures into a contemporary visual language, her works evoke nomadic consciousness, the enduring dialogue between humans and nature, and the subtle persistence of cultural memory within change. I Am Moving considers identity as something carried forward through motion—reshaped rather than fixed. Here, movement becomes a living space where tradition is not left behind, but gently transformed and sustained, where the essence remains unchanged.
Presented just before the Year of the Horse, the exhibition respectfully honors uichuur as a ritual of togetherness and renewal. Traditionally played on the first day of the Lunar New Year to invite good fortune, the game calls people to gather, to move together, and to begin anew.
